On 5th August 1972, Wembley Empire Pool erupted. Bill Haley, Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis took the stage together for one of the most electrifying concerts ever staged on British soil — captured for posterity by director Peter Clifton in his landmark concert film. Malcolm McLaren — the man who would go on to manage the Sex Pistols — commissioned Great Alternative Stores (GAS) to produce the official graphic tees for the show. We had less than a week, no design brief, and a basement in W9 full of ambition.

Using hand-cut stencils and a mix of binder and French chalk, we ran three 24-hour ghost shifts, curing shirts with hand irons before delivering them straight to the stadium gates. Vive le Rock. Rock around the clock. Great balls of fire.

These are faithful reproductions of those original hand-printed designs. No Photoshop. No digital shortcuts. Just the raw stencil energy of the real thing — now on 100% GOTS Certified organic cotton, made to last and built to wear.
