Few images from the 1960s counterculture have had the lasting impact of Robert Crumb’s Keep on Truckin’. Robert Crumb was the founding force behind the underground comix movement, co-founding Zap Comix — the first successful underground comix publication — and contributing to all 16 issues. Alongside East Village Other and dozens of anthology publications, he created a pantheon of countercultural icons including Fritz the Cat, Mr. Natural, and the Keep on Truckin’ figures. Inspired by psychedelics and the hand-drawn cartoons of the 1920s and 30s, his work defined an era of alternative art, social commentary, and irreverent humour.
