The Glastonbury Jester 1983 is one of the most recognisable designs in the history of the festival — and this is the original. Design number three in our Glastonbury Collection, covering 1981 to 1985 when Great Alternative Stores had the permission to produce the official festival shirts for Michael Eavis at Worthy Farm.
The original was screen printed using hand-cut stencils — no Photoshop, no digital shortcuts — with colours that bled and merged in that raw, analogue way. This faithful reproduction is crisper and more defined, but carries the same irreverent spirit. A genuine piece of Glastonbury Festival history you can wear.
A Story Worth Wearing
Our founder's connection to Glastonbury goes back to the very first festival in 1970. He turned up as last-minute driver for T Rex — arriving in Marc Bolan's zebra-stripe flock-covered Cadillac — and stayed to watch, wearing a blue satin shirt made for Jimi Hendrix, who had died the day before. Entry was £1.
That's the spirit this T-shirt carries. Not just a retro festival tee — a living piece of British counterculture and music history.
