In 1982, Great Alternative Stores produced the second official festival shirt for Michael Eavis at Glastonbury — the CND Glastonbury Pyramid 1982 design. Part of our Glastonbury Collection spanning 1981 to 1985, these were the official shirts of the festival during one of its most politically charged and musically iconic eras.
The original was screen printed using hand-cut stencils — no Photoshop, no digital shortcuts — with colours that bled and merged in that raw, analogue way. Now faithfully reproduced on a warm, premium organic cotton sweatshirt — crisper and more defined, but carrying the same urgent spirit of the era.
A Story Worth Wearing
Our founder's connection to Glastonbury goes back to the very first festival in 1970. He turned up as last-minute driver for T Rex — arriving in Marc Bolan's zebra-stripe flock-covered Cadillac — and stayed to watch, wearing a blue satin shirt made for Jimi Hendrix, who had died the day before. Entry was £1.
That's the spirit this sweatshirt carries. Not just a retro festival sweatshirt — a living piece of British counterculture, music, and political history.
