The Sweatshirt That Carries Real Festival History
In 1981, Great Alternative Stores produced the first official festival shirt for Michael Eavis at Glastonbury — and this is the sweatshirt version of that iconic design. The Glastonbury CND Festival 1981 Globe is the opening piece in our Glastonbury Collection, covering the historic period from 1981 to 1985 when GAS held the licence to produce the official Glastonbury merchandise.
The original was screen printed, with colours that bled and merged in that beautiful analogue way. This faithful reproduction carries the same spirit — now on a warm, premium organic cotton sweatshirt built for festival fields and beyond.
A Story Worth Wearing
Our founder's connection to Glastonbury goes back to the very first festival in 1970. He turned up as last-minute driver for T Rex — arriving in Marc Bolan's zebra-stripe flock-covered Cadillac — and stayed to watch, wearing a blue satin shirt that had been made for Jimi Hendrix, who had died the day before. Entry was £1.
That's the spirit this sweatshirt carries. Not just a retro festival sweatshirt — a living piece of British counterculture and music history.
